Essential Information

How long does my session last?

Each session lasts for 50 minutes in duration.

How frequently do the sessions take place?

The initial agreement between both the Client and the Counsellor is usually 6 sessions, however this will depend on the nature of your personal situation and is continually reviewed as progress is made and according to the need and preference of the client.

Are these sessions confidential?

Everything that is discussed within the counselling environment is treated in the strictest of confidence.

Counsellors are required to meet with their supervisor of a regular basis (at least one session a month and for the duration of 1.5 hours) to ensure we continue to work safely and ethically in line with our Code of Ethics guidelines.  A brief outline of a clients situation is discussed at supervision to ensure that we can remain as supportive as we can be.  These supervision sessions are also completely confidential and the main focus is more on the therapist, rather than the clients detailed discussions.

However, the only time a Counsellor has to break that confidentiality is when there is a serious harm to the client themselves or a third party.

What is the cost of each session?

Each session costs £55.  This cost remains throughout the duration of your agreement.

Charges are reviewed each January for the following year.

Who is my governing body?

Yes, I am an Accredited Member of National Counselling Society.  The National Counselling Society operates under a Code of Ethics to which I have to abide by.

Continuous Professional Development

As an Accredited Member of the National Counselling Society, I have to undertake in excess of 30 hours CPD training each year, this is obligatory and is an auditable requirement.
